On a chance visit to the local Observatory, Eric spots a new interplanetary body, soon to be named Hades. Hades is heading towards earth at the rate of twenty miles a second and within three weeks will strike somewhere in Europe. The dedicated group of scientists at Woomera know that the Earth’s fate is in their hands and of all of them, Eric is best qualified to pilot the spaceship which presents their best chance of success.
