Theodore Botrel (1868-1925) was a popular singer-songwriter in France, known particularly for his songs about his native Brittany. During the First World War he was appointed as official War Poet or Bard of the Armies in 1915, granted access to perform throughout French lines. This collection of poems was translated into English soon after.

Very good, 1st edition in English, red boards, gilt & black impressed cover & spine titling (some fading on spine), in protective wrapper; signed and inscribed on ffep to Mgr le Prince de Teck in Nov 1916 (probably Prince George of Teck, who became Marquees of Cambridge, and was nephew of Queen Mary and George V). Text block firm, pages unmarked, but a little sunned.
